Owner/Operators have complete support of BDC's operating facility. A new Owner/ Operator goes through a training program and quickly becomes an expert in what it takes to be a successful Owner/Operator with BDC in the delivery of our products and services and customer service.

Contrary to what many people think, previous courier experience is not a key element in making a successful Owner/Operator. Some of our most successful Owner/Operators have come from completely different fields. What they have in common is a desire for independence and customer service and a love for both driving and interacting with people. They also, thrive in working in a fast paced environment and a team environment.

• Sliding Scale for package and delivery routes based on rate per stop. Some routes have a daily run base in addition to a rate per stop.

Owner/Operators Welcome -

Operator Provides:

Vehicle - must meet the company vehicle requirements

• Late model while cargo van
  
• ½ ton or ¾ ton cargo van, depending on the volume requirements of the route.
  
• Pass our visual inspection and be able to provide a current Commercial Vehicle Inspection report (if required)
  
• Vehicle must be able to be decorated with BDC trademarks, distinctive colours and designs.
  
• No side glass
  
• Panel side door preferred
  
• Cage on driver's side preferred

Line Haul Routes

Owner/Operator provides cab or 5 ton vehicle depending on route requirements. Company will specify vehicle requirements with the potential Owner/ Operator candidate.

Operating Expenses

All operating and maintenance cost of equipment is provided by the Owner/Operator, which includes any material handling equipment, insurance, communication equipment and Workers Compensation Board Coverage.

Owner/Operator Qualifications:

• Driver's Abstract within the last 30 days showing 3 points or less and record of any impaired or careless driving charges and not suspension of license for any reason.
  
• Must be business like in appearance and good grooming habits
  
• Criminal record check search completed during the last 12 months.
  
• Credit check.
  
• Class 5 license for package and delivery runs.
  
• Class 1 license with air endorsement for line haul runs would be preferred with at least 3 years driving experience.
  
• Good knowledge of the geography of the area you are covering would be as asset.
  
• Applicants must be willing to submit to a medical examination.
